Hyundai Palisade is a class leading SUV and all its trims are highly valuable. This mid-size SUV has 3 rows of seating which people claim it to be an all-rounder package. Is this statement true? Read on to know.

Engine and power

Hyundai Palisade is fueled by a V6 3.8 liter engine paired with an 8 speed automatic transmission. The engine produces 291 horsepower which is sufficient. It’s transmission can be manually adjusted to the steering wheel mounted paddles.

On the other hand, the gearbox shifts automatically. At standard, there is front wheel drive whereas an all wheel drive is given as an option on SEL, SE  and limited trims. All the trim levels have the standard powerful transmission cooler, sway control and trailer pre-wiring.

Due to this, it has an impressive towing capacity of 5000 pounds. However, a dealer installed trailer hitch is needed to tow. Palisade takes only 6.9 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph on the all wheel drive.

As recorded by the EPA, the front wheel drive succeeds in getting a 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. But with the all wheel drive, the fuel efficiency shifts to 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

Interior

In both the SE and SEL trim levels, 8 passengers can be seated easily inside. Whereas 7 passengers can be seated in the Limited and Calligraphy trims. In all the three rows of seats, one can find abundant space.

There is a one touch button on the second row to locate the seat forward so that better access can be given to the third row. Most of the noise is cancelled out in the cabin apart from the wind noise.

When the second and third rows are folded, the option of power operation is given in SEL and it is standard in Limited. The cargo area is 86 cubic feet which can accommodate 33 suitcases. But when the third row is folded and the second row is in an upright position, 46 cubic feet is found.

Even beneath the floor, numerous items can be stored.

In both the SE and SEL trim levels, an 8 inches touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and bluetooth connection are offered as standard.

Moreover, option is given for an intuitive 10.3 inches touchscreen having SiriusXM satellite radio and navigation on SEL. These systems can be controlled using physical knobs and buttons. Other options are available such as connecting two bluetooth devices at the same time and 7 USB ports.

A five star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is awarded to Hyundai Palisade whereas the name of Top Safety Pick + is given by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Apart from the standard safety features, almost all the advanced safety gear can be added in the upper trim levels. The standard safety tech are given below.

Warranty and maintenance

Hyundai is known for unbeatable warranty. It is highlighted by the 100,000 miles powertrain warranty given to the first owner of the car. The manufacturer now gives complimentary scheduled maintenance which is excellent.

Limited warranty covers 60,000 miles, complimentary maintenance covers 36,000 miles and powertrain warranty covers 100,000 miles.

Wrapping it up

Although this SUV’s strong rival is Kia Telluride, the automaker has cleverly designed the vehicle to make it stand out. This is how Hyundai Palisade is able to attract a totally different subset of the SUV consuming public while simultaneously presenting the features everyone likes about Telluride.

These features are a stable on-road driving, a smooth powertrain and a huge interior. The Hyundai Palisade is far more sophisticated as well because it’s top trims provide superior comfort (similar to Genesis brand).

Palisade is so refined that it gained an Editor’s Choice award. Even the more affordable trims offer sufficient infotainment and comfort. We can clearly say that Hyundai Palisade is fit for a family. It should be on top of your shopping list due to the driver assistance functions and long warranty.
